Designer Accents Fabric Paint Spray Dye by Simply Spray® is the new and improved version of Simply Spray® Upholstery Spray Paint. The new ten-ounce formula is specifically designed for high-contact surfaces and is UV protected for outside use.
The spray dye is applied in the same manner as spray paint but is a permanent dye that soaks into the fabric. It is non-toxic and non-flammable. It’s made in the USA and safe for children and adults alike. This dye retains the original softness and texture of the fabric and will not crack, bubble, or peel when dried.
With Fabric Spray Dye you can easily have your old furniture looking like new again. Fabric Spray Dye is great for use on couches, recliners, loveseats, indoor and outdoor cushions, chairs, office furniture, hammocks, patio furniture, fabric car interiors, and countless other water-absorbent surfaces. Fabric Spray Dye is a fun, easy, and inexpensive way to rejuvenate the look of your environment.**ALWAYS TEST FABRIC FIRST**
Before starting your project, there are TWO tests that need to be conducted to determine if your fabric is suitable for use with Designer Accents Fabric Spray Dye. Make sure the fabric is clean before beginning these tests.
- WATER TEST: Before spraying the test area, drip a small amount of water onto fabric to see if it soaks in or beads up. If it beads up, do not continue dyeing and call us to return unopened cans.
- SPRAY TEST: If the fabric is found to be water absorbent, test the suitability of the dye by spraying it in an INCONSPICUOUS UNWORN AREA that matches the surface fabric. Let the dye dry completely over three days, then check to make sure your dye adheres to the fabric. Make sure you’re satisfied with results before starting your project.
PLEASE NOTE: The dye will not work on any scotch-guarded or stain-proofed materials. The color on the can is based on dyeing white fabric. The underlying fabric color will change how the dye looks. Any pre-existing patterns or stains on fabric will still show through after dye is applied.
PREPPING YOUR WORK AREA
This dye is permanent and does not wash out. To prevent drips, always start spraying and end spraying off of your project. You can hold a towel in one hand while spraying into your hand then continue onto the project. Use painters’ tape, plastic, or cardboard to protect surfaces from the unwanted dye.
DO NOT OVERSHAKE. Shake the can gently from side to side, not up and down 3-4 times. Resist the urge to overshake. Bubbles are not always your friend.
KEEP CAN UPRIGHT WHEN SPRAYING. For the best results, hold the can upright and 10 to 12 inches away from the project while spraying. There is a tube attached to the spray mechanism (like a Window cleaner bottle). You’ll get the most out of each can this way.
AVOID SOAKING YOUR PROJECT. Less is more. You’ll have better results spraying several light coats of paint as opposed to heavy coats. Spray a light base coat, wait 30 minutes until it’s dry to the touch, then spray a second coat. Paint evenly but heavily. Overlap each painted area by half for the most even coverage.
BUTTONS AND FOLDS CAN BE TRICKY. In these areas, we suggest rubbing in the dye with a rag as you spray to get all the nooks and crannies.
VELVET NEEDS EXTRA CARE. The dye sticks to the fine hairs. You will need to ‘brush’ it with a cloth after it has dried. This will help to soften the fibers.
OK TO HAND WASH. It's safe to hand wash fabric with soap and water after you have allowed the dye to fully dry for 72 hours.
For best results, the fabric must be dry, clean, and free of body oils.
We are not responsible for the results of your dyeing project and will not credit for used cans or damaged furniture.
